Potential formation of acid rain caused by releases of chemicals to the air
Impact on water bodies due to excess nutrients,
primarily nitrogen and phosphorus that lead to excessive algae growth
Withdrawal of water from the environment for processes
related to the product’s life cycle
Depletion of nonliving (abiotic) resources, e.g. fossil fuels, minerals, clay, and peat
Overall energy consumption within a geographic territory
The heat absorbed by any greenhouse gas in the atmosphere as a multiple of the heat that would be absorbed by the same mass of carbon dioxide (CO2)
Respirable particulate matter (PM), specifically PM2.5,
considered a significant air pollutant.

The Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for ASA Building Materials (HK) Limited has been developed in compliance with GB/T 24025-2009 and ISO 14025:2006. This declaration provides a detailed evaluation of the environmental impact of ASA Tiles, including depletion of natural resources, acid rain formation, energy and water use, as well as air and water pollution, and global warming potential.
Based on data from manufacturing activities in 2022, this EPD is valid from 21st October 2023 to 20th October 2028.
Our terrazzo is produced by using recycled mineral materials. These minerals discarded during mining production, are processed and recycled, become the chips of the terrazzo. The specific proportion of recycled materials used in each batch of terrazzo products is determined by the colour and design, generally accounting for about 40%.

The fine sand part of our Architectural Concrete products (UHPC) uses recycled materials as part of the formula. Discarded cement in daily industrial activities are processed and classified, then are mixed with different other ingredients, such as quartz sand, and made our unique Architectural Concrete products.

We believe minimizing waste is an important part of protecting and improving the environment. We regularly donate discontinued tiles to non-profit organisations such as Natural Network to make the best use of everything.

Honoured by the Environmental Campaign Committee with the 2021 Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence.
We uphold the principle of minimalist packaging by prioritising recyclable materials, such as cardboard, and tailoring packaging to specific needs in order to reduce waste.
In logistics planning, we strive to improve transportation efficiency by meticulously coordinating each and every delivery, integrating environmental sustainability into our everyday operation.
We actively support the Government’s “HoHoSkips” construction waste collection scheme. We encourage our friends within the industry to utilise this booking platform for the proper disposal of demolition waste (such as tiles and stone) and work together to alleviate the pressure on landfills.

We value the circularity potential of materials. Through ongoing partnerships with non-profit organisations such as Natural Network, we donate surplus or slightly imperfect tiles to community and environmental projects where they are given a second life.
